1.    Interdiction

Many people dream of becoming a ground crew when they are a child, especially a girl. For me, it is my dream until now. It not only can make me wear a beautiful uniform but also work at the airport. I also love the atmosphere at the airport, because it is very international. I can see and communicate with foreigners, find some interesting thing between foreigners and us. I think it is interesting.

But in many people’s eye, the ground crew is not an important job, they also think that is an easy job. Actually, they are wrong, a complete airline needs to include every department. No one can be miss. Before ground crew starts their work, they need to arrive at the airport two hours earlier to make a briefing. The content of briefing is checking if today’s seat is sold out, oversold or how to assign the seat to the passenger. Or if there is any passenger has a particular case, such as a passenger who is vegetarian, passenger with baby, passenger who need a wheelchair, transfer passenger, transit passenger, or cabin-baggage and so on. They need to check those things before they start working. The work that ground grew is very complicated, if there happen any mistake, it will affect many things. So they all need to be cautious while checking any information.

Sometimes you need to face difficult people, they often have much ridiculous thought or behavior. So you need to find the solution immediately, or the passenger will out of patience. Maybe, the unreasonable people are your superiors, because their level is higher than you, so you can’t offend him/her.

2.    Job description

          Ground crew classifies as counter work and boarding gate work. The job that ground crew does is helping the passenger to check in, and check if their passport is expired. You also need to remind them do not put mobile power, lighter and scissors in their luggage, and ask them to be sure that if their luggage past the X-ray machine. In addition, to counter service, the ground crew also need to check is there any passenger have any help. Such as, if there is an elder need a wheelchair, you have to get one for him/her.

3.    Advantages of being a ground crew

          For those people who are new in this society, it is a good job for them. Although the salary of ground crew is in the median, not very high or very low, their basic salary is still each for you. The working time is only 8.5 hours. There are also many subsidies, such as food, transportation, and nighttime. The total of those subsidies is your real salary. So that is very each. If working time is in the wee hours, your company will pick you up to your home. This is very intimate for the girl if they need to go home by themselves. The second advantage, preferential of the boarding pass. Such as parents, husband, and child of the ground crew, they can have some discount of the boarding pass. (But the sister and brother cannot have this advantage). You can also have free some free boarding pass each year. (But you still need to pay airport tax). The third advantage is the vacation. You can have 10 days of vacation each month. When you work for a year in this airline, the company will give you another 7 days for the bonus. Then, if you are good at planning your schedule, you can relax yourself to travel.

4.    Disadvantages of being a ground crew

The disadvantage of the ground crew must be shift work. The time which ground crew work classifies as morning shift, middle shift and night shift. The time of morning shift is 3:30 or 4:15. The time of the middle shift is 10:30, 12:00 and 14:00. And the time of night shift is 17:30, 18:30 and 20:00. You will have more than 10 days of the morning shift, 3 or 4 days of middle shift and 5 or 6 days of the night shift. So the usual lift might be wake up at 2:30 and get to work, or just only can sleep in early in the morning tomorrow. Lots of people can stand this because it turns night into day. At first, many people will get sick, such as headache, catch a cold, cough, run at the nose and even cough with some blood. So if you want to do this job, you need to stand this system.

5.    Long-term career development

If you are tired of being a ground crew, you can consider being a flight attendant. If your language ability is very well it will not hard for you. But you need to adopt new life, such as living in an airplane, the biological clock will mess up, and you also can not get home very often. But the advantage of the flight attendant is that you can have a little trap while you fly to another country, it can widen your vision.

6.    Who suits this job?

          If a person who can stand this shift system, it must very suit for this job. But you also need to have the basic language ability, such as more than TOEIC 600, BULATS 45, IELTS 4.5 or TOEFL (ITP 480/iBT 64). Also, need some experiences of booking boarding pass, or good as searching on the internet and speaking skill of telephone. And the important one is confidence, and passion for this job.

If you want to become a ground crew. You need to have the following qualifications.

Interviewee: Laura’s cousin

The maze runner

      This is a movie which talks about a group of people who have been sent to a place called ‘Glade’ to make a test. Every month, the laboratory will send a person and something to Glade. But all of their memory is be deleted, so they also don’t remember why they have to be sent to here. The only thing they can do is live by themselves. Glade is a place which surrounds by the maze, if you want to go outside you must pass the maze. But it is not an easy thing, the maze will change every night, and there also have a monster called ‘Griever’, it can kill people. This is why those people can’t pass the test. 

       One day here comes a boy who called Thomas, everyone come and visit him. Later Alby (a leader of Glade) take him to look around the whole environment, and he adapts very soon. One day, he wants to visit the maze, although he knows that is dangerous. But he wants to go outside, so he decides to find the way to pass the maze with Minho. After fighting with Griever and almost dead, they finally get outside. But this is not the end, laboratory cheats them, so they didn’t finish their test, they just go to another more difficult test.

       I love this type of movie, such as Divergent and The Hunger Games. If you also like the type of anti-utopia, I recommend you to watch it.

Life of Pi

This is a story happen in India which talks about a man named Pi who reminisces his childhood in 1954. Pi lived in a rich family, his father has a zoo. So they always gave him good care and life. A few years later, their country happened some political disturb, so Pi’s parents decided to move to Canada. They sold their zoo and only take some animals with them. Then they board a ship and went to Canada. Unfortunately, the ship meets a storm and sink. Pi’s parents and brother die one by one. After the tragedy, Pi wakes up, then he finds out that he is on a lifeboat with a spotted hyena, a zebra, orangutan and a tiger who called Parker. They start to live together, spotted hyena kill zebra then orangutan. This makes Pi feeling afraid, then after a couple of days, Parker kills the spotted

hyena. Pi still afraid because he afraid he is the next one to be killed, but fortunately, they get along well. After 227 days later, Pi drifting to Mexico. At the moment on the coast, Parker runs into the forest. It makes Pi feel a little sad, then he was saved. A few days ago, here comes two investigators visit him and ask him have happened while he was on the lifeboat. But investigators don’t believe him because they think that is impossible. So Pi changes the character to human but animal. Later, the investigator finds out that it heard similar than the animal version. So they believe Pi and report it.

I have seen this movie three times. When every time I saw it, it gets me difference feeling and interpret. It not only has beautiful scenes but also gets us some metaphor. It is a great movie I recommend you to watch it.

Smartphone addiction

  Nowadays, smartphone is very popular. It makes human’s life more convenience. 
But everything must have its’ advantage and disadvantage. Although it makes our life better, we can’t ignore the problem which brought to us.  

  The smartphone can make information flow very quickly. Such as News, Facebook, or Google and so on. It can bring the information all over the world immediately, so if some place has happened something such as an earthquake or typhoon, it can spread the news very fast.

  Let’s talk about the disadvantage. People usually use their smartphone and seldom interactive to others face by face. This is a terrible situation that if people hang out with their friend, they only use their smartphone and seldom chat with people who go out with him/her. It really disrespects someone who goes out with you. 
I remember that I have dinner with my parents in a restaurant. A group of people is celebrating someone’s birthday. They prepare a lot of balloon, present, and cake. It sounds like a great celebration, right? But I find out that everyone is using their mobile phone to film the video or take a photo so that they can post on Instagram or Facebook. At that moment, there is no one who really looking at that birthday girl, they are all looking at their screen. It makes me sad because if I were that girl, I won’t be happy.

  Although smartphone brings us a lot of conveniences, there are still many things we need to think about it. It can be used but cannot be overused. If everyone can control themselves, the smartphone will get the best effect.

Something in my present life that I will put into a time capsule to give my child 20 years

If I want to give a time capsule to my child, I will put something which is important in my childhood. It is the symbol of my life and my childhood. There are three things I want to put in it.

The first one is my rabbit doll. It accompanies with me since I was ten years old. I remember that there is a fortune teller told my parents if I have a rabbit doll it must good to me. So my parents bought me a rabbit doll. After that, I sleep with a rabbit every night.

The second one is Mayday CD. One of my best friend in junior high share her Mayday CD to me, and it influenced me a lot. I think Ashin is really good at writing lyrics, his lyrics always deep rooted in my mind. After that, I listen to their songs every day, and I went to their concert the first time in my life.

The last one is a tape recorder. This is a tool I used in my English cram school. It also accompanies with me for many years. My teacher always asked us to record our speaking in it every day. It was terrible for me at that time. People in the future won’t know what it is so I still want to put into the time capsule.

When holiday comes...

When the holiday comes, my dad often brings us to his hometown for fun, and eat some snacks or listen to some story about his childhood. His hometown is Yancheng District(鹽埕區) which located in Kaohsiung, and it was a prosperous place in the past. It is near the Kaohsiung port, so it was prosperous while my dad was a child. There is also a place called Kuchan(舊堀江). Sadly those places are not prosperous like past anymore.

Today I want to introduce two foods which my dad like to eat. The first one is 高雄婆婆冰. Though 海之冰is one of the most shaved ice in Kaohsiung, local people like 婆婆冰more. Because it is more fresh, delicious and also a long history. The second one is小堤咖啡, which is a retro café, managed by an old woman. This café is very vintage(復古) and only offer coffee, toast, and ham with egg. Maybe it sounds boring, but because of a kind old woman and beautiful decoration, there are still many people visit it.
 

There are still many delicious foods in Kaohsiung. Such like樺達奶茶, 戴蛋餅, 鴨肉珍, 興隆居 and so on. If you have the chance to visit Kaohsiung, maybe you can try these delicious foods.

The most horrible movie I have ever seen- Door lock (Korean movie)

Kyung min, a Korean who lives alone in a one room apartment. One day, she found out someone moved her things in her room, but she thought that is her illusion. Few days later, she found a stranger who want to open her door at night. And then, her superior wanted to give back her wallet, so he went to her home. But unfortunately, he was killed by someone who hid in Kyung min’s room. Then Kyung min called the police, then she became a murderer. Later, she moved to another apartment for new life. One day, she went to supermarket, then she met a person who lived near her before. That make her uncomfortable, she think he was following her. Few days later, someone injected poison to her and she feels asleep. Next day she opened her eyes, she was imprisoned in the old hotel. Then she fought with that bad guy, and finally killed that murderer.

After watching this movie, I am too scared to sleep alone. When it is time to bed, I always check under my bed if there is anyone here. I also thanks for this movie because it gave me the importance of lock your door all the time. The most horrible of all is evil heart of humanity. How could a men treat others like that? Not all the people in this world are kind, don’t believe anyone too much. Although it happened to Korea and America before. Hope it won’t happen again in real life.

The trip to Northeastern Japan

This winter vacation I went to my favorite country- Japan. Instead of Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto or Hokkaido, I visited an unpopular place Yamagata (山形). The reason why I choose this place is because there are two beautiful tourist attractions.  

The first one is Ginzan Onsen(銀山溫泉). It is said that the scene which movie Spirited Away use is here. I still remember that there was full of snow everywhere. Even though there was very cold, it still magnificent. I took lots of photos and walked everywhere to found something special. At that moment, I was totally immersed in that breathtaking scenery. Such as I were an actress in movie. And there are many hot spring hotels, open-air hot springs, Kaiseki Meal (懷石料理), some traditional store. I remember that we ate onsenmanjyu (溫泉饅頭) while went to hot spring. That was an unforgettable memory.  

The other one is Zaourenbou(藏王連峰=樹冰). I remember that it was a lucky day which had good weather, no raining, no snowing and no storm. So we took the cable car to the top of Zaourenbou easily. When we arrived the top, I felt excited and ran very fast. But the next moment, I felt I’m almost blow away by the wind. It scared me, so I just took some picture then went back to the visitor center. Although I didn’t take a lot of time at Zaourenbou, I still enjoy the scenery very much.

These are two places which impressed me a lot. If you don’t want to go to Tokyo or Osaka like those place which everyone visit often, I recommend you to have a travel to Northeastern Japan. Maybe you will love it.

Introduce a local dish to foreign visitors-Rice Dumpling

  When foreign friends visit to Taiwan, I would like to introduce ‘Rice Dumpling’. It is not only our famous dish but also has it history. While eating rice dumpling, I can introduce the background. Or I can also teach them how to pack rice dumpling. It sounds good, isn’t it?

  Let’s talk about the history first. Qu Yuan was a minister of his home state. One day, The King refused to listen to Qu Yuan's advice and instead banished him from the state of Chu. After few years ago, Qu Yuan heard that his home had been invaded, he committed suicide by jumping into Ni Lo River. The people of Chu came to the river to rescue Qu Yuan. But it was too late. Then they afraid that those fish will eat his body, so they decided use leaf to pack some rice then threw into river. So that is the origin of Rice Dumpling.

  Rice Dumpling divided in two classes, North and South. ‘Rice Dumpling from Northern Taiwan’ usually use the leaf which is yellow and has some spot on it, and it taste flavorful. And ‘Rice Dumpling from Southern Taiwan’ usually us raw rice with bamboo’s leaf. The flavor of it taste light than North and often add peanut powder.

If I were a teacher

  Last winter vacation, I participated a camp which hold in an elementary school. I learned a lot while accompany with child and some difference skills to solve the problem. And the most thing I like is the atmosphere of camp, it is full of love. Although it is hard to control those children, even though I am tired, I still felt warm and happy.

  There was a little boy who impressed me. He often left his seat without allowance, bothering other students or fighting with his classmates. Such an evil, isn’t he? At the moment I wanted to give up communication with him, teacher came and helped me. Then, teacher told me that he has ADHD(過動症), and his parents don’t really care about him, not to mention his school work. And the reason why he was so naughty was he want to catch others’ attention. Curse also useless to him. So teacher and I decided to made a “Praise of wall”(讚美牆), and asked every student written at least one each day. Then, that little boy want to be praised, so he became well-behaved. Teacher and I was glad because it worked. It made me realize that the boy isn’t unteachable, he just want to be loved.

  After this camp, I became more patient than before. Also learned many way to face difference child. Although student often make mistakes, teacher never curse or beat them. Instead of that kind of punishment, teacher ask they help others or clean the classroom as their price. If I will become a teacher, this teacher must be my ideal because of her open-minded and passionate.

My imaginations about robots and the future world

It is hard for me to image what our world will become, because technology is getting more and more developed. So watching movie or TV might be a good way to give me some imaginations.

I remember that when I was a child, I often watch Doraemon. It gave me a lot of imagination of future, because Doraemon often show many props. Such like Dokodemo door, Air cannon, Take-copter and Small light. And my favorite one is Dokodemo door, because it can bring me to anywhere I want to visit. Or I also can arrive in classroom for one second. So if I have this kind of robot, it must be convenience. (hahaha~~

  The reason why technology develop that fast is because people want to make their life more convenience and comfortable. Maybe in ten more years or even not, we don’t need to use mobile phone to connect to other people. And robot might replace people to work or also clean your house and help you anything. But from my point of view, it is a little dangerous if we use robot anywhere. If one day, the internet is out of order, it might be terrible. So while convenience, we also need to consider about safe. Everything has its pros and cons.

When I become a mother

What kind of mother will I become?

Actually, it is too far from me, so I have no idea.

But I still perhaps I can become a good mother, good model.

There are two situations I hate in this society. If I become a mother, I won’t let myself become like that.

  In this Chinese society, parents often ask their child to get good grades, stop daydreaming or they can’t get a good job. And usually ask them learn something that they don’t interested in it. It means that parents don’t really understand or care about what their child really want.

  And there is another problem. Nowadays, people often busy with their work. So they don’t have each time to accompany with their kids. But when they finally have time with family, parents use mobile phone instead of play with child. In that case, child must feel alone, less concern and then it will derive many problems in mind.

  Parents must be an important role in children’s life. If you perhaps your child to be kind and well, you must be a good example first. Perhaps I can become a mother who really understand what he/she want and make good friend with him/her. Don’t just like the parents I describe.

The Danish Girl

When it comes to the movie I like, there is only one movie in my mind.

That is《The Danish Girl》.

This movie not only have great plot but also beautiful scene.

This is a movie which talk about the first transsexual in the world. In 1926, at Denmark, there is a painter couple named Einar and Gerda. One day, Gerda has a paint which deadline is almost coming, but her model has no time to come and help her. So Gerda ask her husband Einar wear the ballet skirt and stockings to be her model. And later on, Gerda has an art exhibition, she want Einar go with her, but because Einar is a famous painter and he don’t want to be stare so he refuse. Then, Gerda let Einar wear woman’s clothes. At the moment Einar cross-dressing, he become strange. Such like change into another person and inspire his mind that he want to be a woman. So his wife is really worried about him, and start to find out what wrong with his husband. Later, she find out Einar often cross-dressing and has a date with man. At that moment, she frightened and mad, so she told Einar he can’t do that anymore. So Einar has listen what Gerda said and they start to see a doctor to looking for what happen on Einar. But it can’t work, Einar can’t control his mind, all the thing is too late. So Gerda start to accept Einar which is a woman in his mind, and listening to Einar’s upset. One day, they find a doctor, who has been seen the same case before, and the doctor really know what happen on Einar. The doctor said that Einar is a real woman in his mind but he born in the wrong gender. And he can help Einar become the real woman, but that is a really danger surgery because it is easy to infection and there are no people did this surgery before. But Einar really want to be a real woman, so he doesn’t afraid of the risk and agree to do that surgery. Although Gerda was mad about that because it is danger, she can’t do anything instead support and stay with him. After the surgery, Einar become the real woman, and he change his named ‘Lily’ and use that name to live the new life for years. But the good circumstance don’t last long, at the least surgery Lily dead in transplant rejection.

 

I think Gerda is really a kind woman, and also greatest love. She not only need to face her husband become a woman but also stay, take care and support him. Although Einar’s courage is really need to be respect, in my point of view, the person who must obtain the most respect is Gerda. She is the much more great love person I have ever seen. Although the scene, tone and music are beautiful, I still think the most beautiful part is love between Einar and Gerda.

International Student Restaurant

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT RESTAURANT

I. Introduction: The situation in YZU

    There are many foreign students studying in Yuan Ze. Can they adapt the food in Taiwan? Or if they are already used to have the flavor of Taiwanese food but they are still missing for their country’s food? There are only one foreign restaurant -Tai restaurant in student restaurant. If we can make even more countries’ food in student restaurant, it not only can let those foreign students aftertaste their hometown’s food but also let Taiwanese student have more choice to have a lunch/dinner. But there also have another problem, that is those student restaurant are not enough for student to eat. When there is time to twelve o’clock, there must be a lot of student lining up for food. So if student have class on one o’clock, they don’t have time to wait for the food. If we build an international student restaurant in your school, how do you feel? It sounds like a great idea, right?

II. What kind of a restaurant it is.

As you know on the topic, the thing I want to recommend you is a restaurant. But don’t underestimate it because it must be the best school restaurant in Taiwan. This is a student restaurant which hire over more ten countries’ chefs. Even have the chef who has honor Michelin before and also has a chef who is the disciple of Gordon Ramsay. Those of them are born and bred by their country so they can cook the food very authentic. This international student restaurant is not just only have great chef but also have high-quality equipment. Such as fashion decoration, ice machine, coffee machine and WIFI and so on.

III. Who will use it and why

I have been observing for the structure of student in Yuan Ze for a long time. I think there are more and more foreign student come to Yuan Ze for studying every year. And many of them are come from Southeast Asia, West Asia or South America and so on. It is hard for student who don’t miss the food from their hometown. So if we can make those chef cook such a diversify cook, I think it can let those foreign student adapt the food they eat in Taiwan, and also can aftertaste the food they eat in their hometown. Besides, it can also solve the problem which student restaurant is not enough. There are only one student restaurant, two restaurants and two convenience stores in school, so when it is the time to have lunch, those place which offer lunch must be lining up for many people. So if someone don’t have each time to buy lunch, they just only can go to class first. I think that is not health for student.

IV. Relevant product which can also be used.

There is also a relevant product can recommend you and that is vending machines for food. It can resolve the problem which student restaurant is not enough and also convenience for student if they want to have a snack when they are not very hungry. This kind of vending machine can in variety. It can have soup, salad, fast food, boxed meal, ice cream or coffee and some special drink such like boba milk tea. You don’t need to worry about that if the food can’t be heating, because it may have a microwave in that machine. And also don’t need to warry about the fresh of salad, boba milk tea or boxed meal, because there will have a staff to check if those food are fresh once every two days.    

V. Conclusion: The main point.

    This must be a great student restaurant if you use it. Although it might have in a little high price, it can solve many problem. And if those foreign students have great evaluation for your school, maybe there can be more and more foreign student want to study in your school.
